The bulge in the basal plane area of cuprate superconductors – evidence for 3a singlet hole pairs

چکیده
The bulge in the doping dependence of the basal plane area in hole doped cuprate superconductors is connected with a non-double-occupancy constraint for the oxygen cages in the CuO2 lattice. This constraint favors the formation of 3a hole pairs growing to filaments with gapless excitations along the (π, π) direction. Thus in the pseudogap regime a nodal metal of hole pairs is created. Densest packed 3a hole pairs stabilize the optimum doped state at n = 1/6 ≃ 0.16.

The Bulge in the Basal Plane Area of Cuprate Superconductors
Hole doping of cuprate superconductors removes electrons from the antibonding planar Cu3dx2−y2O2pxy states; thus increasing doping is expected to shorten the planar Cu–O bonds. All accessible crystallographic data, however, give evidence for a significant deviation from the Pauling-type contraction of covalent bonds on increasing covalency. Between the onset of superconductivity at nI−M = 0.07(...

A model of preformed hole-pairs in cuprate superconductors has been proposed based on some experimental results i.e., 1) electron paramagnetic resonance spectra of quenched superconductors which show very frequently the fragment (CuO)4 broken off from the CuO2 layer in the structure, 2) 41 meV peak observed in neutron diffraction and nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of superconductors, 3) Hei...

We have investigated the doping dependencies of the basal areas in single-layer high-Tc cuprates La2−xSrxCuO4 and HgBa2CuOx, as well as in two-layer Y1−yCayBa2Cu3Ox and HgBa2CaCu2Ox. The basal areas not only tend to shrink on hole doping, as expected from single electron quantum chemistry, but exhibit also a “bulge” around optimum doping. We attribute the “bulge” to the effects of the strongly ...

Asymmetric features of various physical quantities in the normal and superconducting states between hole- and electron-doped cuprate high-temperature superconductors have been an issue of debate for a long time. Their exploration is very important for the understanding not only of the mechanism of high-Tc superconductivity but also of the nature of doped-Mott insulators. Presented in this rev...
متن کامل4 A ug 2 00 4 Experimental Investigation of the Competing Orders and Quantum Criticality in Hole - and Electron - Doped Cuprate Superconductors
We investigate the issues of competing orders and quantum criticality in cuprate super-conductors via experimental studies of the high-field thermodynamic phase diagrams and the quasiparticle tunneling spectroscopy. Our results suggest substantial field-induced quantum fluctuations in all cuprates investigated, and their correlation with quasiparticle spectra implies that both electron-(n-type)...
